Heaven On Earth

Image
Heaven is a beautiful dream and earth is the reality which exists. So what exactly is heaven? Is it the sky? The millions of stars in it? The far away planets and galaxies? And can you see heaven while you're on earth? Everyone has their own perspectives about heaven, even its very existence is doubtful. But for me it's where everything is pure and perfection is at its epitome. It's when you feel love in its purest form and detachment from all worldy aspects that you experience heaven. Heaven On Earth Lord Buddha was someone who transcended the expectations of a mere human being and reached enlightenment throught his efforts and thirst for true knowledge. He never intended his followers to form a religion out of his teachings. Instead Buddhism was always meant to be a way of life. His teachings were supposed to lift mankind from all worldly sufferings. It's not everyday that such an individual is born with the sole purpose of bettering the human world. Ga

Much Like Beauty

Image
I was going through the various Buddha images available online but most of them had very little difference from one another. I know, a person will always look the same no matter who the artist is but variety is something all of us look for. So when I came across this image I knew straight away that I had to paint it.  Appreciate what you have Where you are and Who you are within this moment.  When I completed this work and send a picture of it to a few close people, I got quite interesting responses.  My father asked me who the girl in the picture was, my sister quipped in asking if the nose was a bit too sharp for Buddha. My husband asked who the person in the painting was and when I said it's the 4th in the Buddha series he said it didn't even look like Buddha! I was about to protest and put forth my points to prove how it was Buddha when I realised that much like beauty,  art is in the eyes of the beholder. So yes it might look like a girl with short

A Dance With Dots

Dots or points, as insignificant as it might seem, becomes compelling and beautiful when they combine. Similarly you might consider yourself as an insignificant part in this world but the minute good deeds you do will finally add up to something bigger or better. It might be as simple as holding the door for someone or helping someone overburdened with luggages. It will be remembered and karma has a way of finding its way back. You get what you give. Atleast that's what I'd like to believe. Brightening my wall This is the 3rd painting in the Buddha Series. It is a 10"×12" canvas and took me 2 days to complete. The practice piece I did helped me a lot in understanding how to place the dots, about what colours to use and different techniques that can be applied for a better result. A closer view This time I learned a little more about using the transition effect for a better result. Although the colour combinatin turned out a lot different than

A Riot Of Colours

Image
From our childhood days we've been told to colour inside the lines and we've meticulously followed those words by trying our best not to let even a stray line fall outside. But growing up I realised its ok to colour outside those prescribed lines. Sometimes you donot even need those lines to paint or colour. It's the same with things we do in life. Not everything can go as we might have planned but it can still result in something better. If each new experience was to become a colour then the brush strokes would eventually fill the canvas to form a beautiful painting. Peace The second in my series of Buddha paintings this 18"x 24" canvas is the largest I have painted till date. One look and its obvious that this is also the most colourful one. Although the colour selection was random the major orange areas have lined up diagonally and the blue areas in the opposite way. My favourite thing about this painting is Lord Buddha's face . The beau

Practicing My Dots

Image
Two dots are random Three dots make a pattern And lots of them make art 😄 Dots can be fun and dots can be art. Well, this is a practice piece for my 3rd painting in the Buddha Series. And yes it means the second one is ready 😀 but it'll take a little longer to post. Meanwhile I'm having fun dotting. What i love about this work is that those dots look like precious little jewels emulating the glow of Lord Buddha. The Evolution
